KazGASA Marks Its 45th Anniversary with a Grand Celebration in Almaty

On April 14, 2026, a ceremonial event dedicated to the 45th anniversary of the Kazakh Leading Academy of Architecture and Civil Engineering (KazGASA) was held at the Almaty Theatre. The юбилей brought together representatives of the public sector, international partners, alumni, and the professional community.

As part of the anniversary program, an expanded meeting of the KazGASA Board of Trustees was held with the participation of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sayasat Nurbek. Following the meeting, the Board’s composition was updated, increasing its membership to 10 people. Statesman and public figure Krymbek Kusherbayev joined the Board and was elected Chairman. Previously, this position was held by Honored Builder of Kazakhstan and Chairman of the Board of Directors of “Elitstroy Group,” Bekzat Sarmanov, who continues to serve as a Board member.

The program continued with a праздничный concert combining official and cultural segments. Welcoming speeches were delivered by Chairman of the IEC Supervisory Board Aigazy Kusainov, Chairman of the KazGASA Board of Trustees Krymbek Kusherbayev, Minister Sayasat Nurbek, and U.S. Consul General Michelle Yerkin.

During the event, Minister Sayasat Nurbek presented ведомственные awards to representatives of the academy. Aigazy Kusainov was awarded the “Akhmet Baitursynuly” badge. Gulnaz Ibraimbayeva and Banu Azhgaliyeva were awarded the badge “For Contribution to the Development of the Native Language.”

A key announcement of the юбилей was the launch of the educational foundation named after Academician Amirlan Kusainov, aimed at supporting students, young researchers, and developing the human capital of the industry.

The evening program also included an award ceremony and the conferral of honorary professor titles to distinguished representatives of the professional and academic community, including Aidar Tatyagulov, Yerik Besimbayev, Ignacio Menendez, and Alexander Belovich. Guests were presented with an anniversary film highlighting alumni and the academy’s development.

The cultural program featured creative performances and a concert by Kazakh artist Aikyn Tolepbergen, concluding with the KazGASA anthem.

The anniversary celebration marked an important milestone in the academy’s development, outlining future priorities such as advancing practice-oriented education, implementing digital technologies, and expanding international cooperation.
