On April 21, 2026, as part of the academic mobility program of the faculty of the International Education Corporation (KazGASA), a lecture titled “Creative Cutting in Fashion Design: From Construction to Collection Development” was held at Almaty Technological University.
The lecture was delivered by Gulzhan Shayzadanova, PhD, Associate Professor of the School of Design at IEC (KazGASA). The event was aimed at exchanging academic experience and developing students’ professional competencies in modern fashion design.
During the lecture, modern approaches to garment design and production using creative cutting were discussed, including its differences from traditional methods, the role of form, and the influence of contemporary design practices.
Participants were introduced to the fundamentals of construction and modeling, the stages of product development-from concept to technical execution-as well as material selection and working with complex constructions. The lecture concluded with principles of collection development and visualization.
As part of the visit, practical sessions were also conducted to reinforce the acquired knowledge and develop students’ skills.
The implementation of academic mobility contributes to strengthening inter-university cooperation, exchanging advanced educational practices, and developing the professional design community.
