On October 26, Togzhan Bakitova, a student in the Fashion Design educational programme at International Educational Corporation (KazGASA), won third place at the Fashion For Future – 2026 Young Designers Competition, held as part of Eurasian Fashion Week.
Togzhan presented an original collection inspired by the cultural heritage of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi and the architecture of his mausoleum in Turkistan. In her work, she combined traditional craftsmanship techniques with the principles of sustainable fashion, exploring the competition’s theme, Human Touch.
To create the collection, the young designer used wet felting and denim upcycling techniques. The handmade felt symbolises the deep connection between people and materials, while the repurposed denim reflects a responsible approach to resources and a commitment to conscious consumption.
Every stage of the creative process was carried out by the student herself. She also placed particular emphasis on the zero-waste principle, striving to use materials without generating waste.
The collection reflects an individual creative vision that brings together national cultural heritage, contemporary fashion trends, and environmentally responsible design.
