International Educational Corporation KazGASA and Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture Sign Agreements to Launch Dual Degree Programmes

Kazakhstani students will be able to earn two degrees in civil engineering: one from KazGASA in Kazakhstan and one from Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture (BUCEA) in China. The agreements were signed at the 10th BRAUIC International Forum, held in Jinan, China, from 16 to 18 October 2026.

The International Educational Corporation (KazGASA) and Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture (BUCEA) have signed agreements to establish joint dual degree programmes in civil engineering at bachelor’s and master’s levels. The signing took place during the 10th International Forum of the Belt and Road Architectural University International Consortium (BRAUIC). The agreements were signed with Professor Zhang Dayu, President of BUCEA and Chairman of BRAUIC.

The new programmes will allow students to earn two degrees after completing their studies in Kazakhstan and China. The agreements cover two joint educational programmes.

The dual degree master’s programme will combine the academic strengths of KazGASA and BUCEA in civil engineering. Graduates who meet the requirements of both institutions will be eligible to receive two degrees:

– KazGASA – a master’s degree in Construction under educational programme 7M07321;

– BUCEA – a Master of Civil Engineering degree.

The bachelor’s programme follows a 3+1 model, with students studying in both countries. They will complete their first three years at KazGASA and their fourth year at Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture. Graduates who complete the programme and meet the academic requirements of both institutions will receive two degrees:

– KazGASA – a bachelor’s degree in Construction under educational programme 6B07321;

– BUCEA – a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.

The programmes will give students international study experience, introduce them to the engineering practices and technologies used in China’s construction industry, and broaden their opportunities for further study and employment.

The agreements build on the strategic partnership between KazGASA and BUCEA in civil engineering education. In 2026, BUCEA awarded ten scholarships for master’s study to KazGASA graduates. The new agreements move the partnership from individual study opportunities and scholarship support to fully developed joint dual degree programmes.

The 10th BRAUIC International Forum was hosted by Shandong Jianzhu University in Jinan, Shandong Province, China, from 16 to 18 October 2026. BRAUIC marked its tenth anniversary in 2026. The forum brought together leaders of architecture and civil engineering universities, government representatives, researchers, and experts from several countries to discuss the future of architectural and engineering education, research, and international academic cooperation.

Bakhtiyar Sabdenaliyev, Rector of the International Educational Corporation (KazGASA), took part in the forum’s official programme and addressed the international academic community.

The agreements with BUCEA were a key outcome of KazGASA’s participation in the 10th BRAUIC International Forum and an important step in Kazakhstan–China cooperation in architectural and civil engineering education. The joint programmes support Kazakhstan’s efforts to internationalise higher education, give Kazakhstani students more opportunities to study abroad, and prepare engineers to work with new technologies in the construction sector
