Artificial Intelligence Is Becoming Part of Kazakhstan’s Higher Education System

On June 3, 2026, the International Educational Corporation (KazGASA) hosted the OpenAI CHATGPT EDU Seminar dedicated to the implementation of artificial intelligence technologies and the digital transformation of Kazakhstan’s higher education system.

The event brought together representatives of 98 universities across Kazakhstan, specialists in education and digital technologies, as well as experts in AI transformation and modern educational solutions.

The seminar became especially relevant in the context of the Year of Artificial Intelligence announced in Kazakhstan. As President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted: “With the emergence of artificial intelligence, a kind of dividing line has formed between those countries that will manage to enter the future and those that will remain in the past. That is why I have declared digital technologies and artificial intelligence a priority area for Kazakhstan’s development.”

The seminar became one of the largest professional platforms for discussing the application of artificial intelligence in the academic environment and the development of universities’ digital ecosystems.

The discussions focused on the integration of the ChatGPT EDU platform into the educational process, the transformation of the university environment, the development of digital competencies, and the practical use of AI for students, faculty members, and university administrative processes.

International practice shows that the use of AI enables educators to significantly reduce time spent on routine tasks, improve the quality of educational materials, analyze student performance more effectively, and enhance feedback systems.

Special attention was given to the potential of ChatGPT EDU as a tool for personalized learning, process automation, support for faculty in preparing educational materials, and improving the efficiency of universities’ academic, research, and administrative activities.
