On November 25-26, 2025, the International Educational Corporation (KazGASA) hosted a series of guest lectures delivered by Professor Valdas Urbanavičius from Kauno kolegija, Lithuania, for students of the School of Engineering.
On November 25, Professor Urbanavičius presented lectures focusing on the use of open data and modern information processing tools. He examined the concept of “open data,” highlighting the differences in how it is interpreted in various professional fields. Special attention was given to Lithuania’s open data systems and software used for processing data collected by unmanned aerial vehicles.
On November 26, the lecture series continued with topics on the application of new technologies in geodesy and the preservation of cultural heritage. Major international projects related to the Struve Geodetic Arc-celebrating its 20th anniversary of being inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2025-were presented. Modern methods of cultural heritage mapping using photogrammetric models were also discussed.
The lectures provided students with valuable insight into contemporary approaches to data processing, the use of unmanned technologies in engineering, and modern geoinformation and cartographic technologies applied in cultural heritage preservation.
