International Master Class on Seismic Isolation Technologies Held at IEC

On April 15-16, the International Educational Corporation (KazGASA) hosted a two-day international master class on seismic base isolation, organized with the participation of the Turkish company TIS Deprem Teknolojileri – one of the leading developers of seismic protection technologies for buildings.

The speakers included leading international experts and industry representatives: Deputy General Managers of TIS Deprem Teknolojileri, Dr. Sadun Tanışer and MSc. Demirhan Sever, as well as Professor Bahadır Şadan from MEF University and Professor Cüneyt Tüzün from Yaşar University.

TIS Deprem Teknolojileri specializes in the full cycle of services – from engineering concept and design to production, testing, installation, and technical support. The company’s portfolio includes advanced solutions for both new and existing structures, such as seismic isolators, dampers, structural bearings, and structural health monitoring systems.

The master class featured a practice-oriented educational program covering key aspects of applying seismic isolation technologies in modern construction. Participants were introduced to performance-based design principles, types of seismic isolators, and international best practices.

Special attention was given to the stages of implementing seismic isolation technologies, taking into account architectural, structural, and engineering (MEP) solutions, as well as seismic hazard assessment, and the selection and analysis of ground motions. The sessions also covered the properties and design features of lead-rubber and friction pendulum isolators, methods of linear and nonlinear modeling, and testing and certification procedures.

The practical component included analysis of real case studies and completion of project-based tasks to reinforce the acquired knowledge.

The master class was attended by engineers, designers, and representatives of construction, development, and manufacturing companies interested in implementing modern technologies for seismic safety and structural reliability.

Upon completion, all participants received certificates of participation in the international master class.

The event became part of IEC (KazGASA)’s ongoing efforts to develop practice-oriented education and expand cooperation with international industry partners.
